MARIA WHITEHEAD was a young woman who had already proved herself beyond her years as a West Chester East High School field hockey star and, ultimately, the youngest college level head coach in field hockey history. She passed away at age 25, a victim of melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer and, today, the LEADING cancer killer of young women.

Nearly everyone either knows someone or has encountered melanoma in their own lives in some way. If caught early, it is the most curable of cancers. BUT, there is no cure for advanced stage melanoma. Prevention and early detection is vital. This is the mission of the Melanoma International Foundation.
