July 14 from 7:30pm until 10:00pm - Re-enactment Night
July 15 from 11:30am until 5:30pm - Street Festival
The year was 1957 when Steve McQueen's low-budget sci-fi classic was filmed in Chester County, PA. One of the location scenes was Phoenixville's wonderful Colonial Theater, where a re-enactment of the audience panic scene is held every year. It is followed the next day by a fantastic street festival (parade, classic car show, and more....)with special movie screenings throughout the day.
Great music was in the air back in those years. The Rivers set the mood with a "pre-exit" concert on Friday night and music on the street for Saturday.
The great concert shots in the Colonial were taken by Charlie Wellock. THANKS SO MUCH, CHARLIE!
Hey, it's a moment of glory and we're takin' it!
Serious rockin' at center stage! This photo was in many local papers.
Nice artsy shot from backstage...
Stu invited Blob fans, The Cosmos to feature songs by Wanda Jackson, Janice Martin, and others. Bruce Greenwood, their sax player, also joined in.
Blobfest has a lot of strange characters wandering about. Here's Uncle Spooky with his... geiger counter?
With saxman Bruce Greenwood behind us, The Rivers cap the night with a final reprise of the Blob Song with everybody outside under the marquee...
...then out to the streets next morning to host the grand parade and costume contest!
WATCH FOR THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY BLOBFEST IN 2007; THE RIVERS WILL BE THERE!
