ROCKABILLY CD

The Rivers Rockabilly Trio

ROCKABILLY CD
a tribute to the original artists
of the rockabilly days.

RELEASE DATE: To be announced...

You asked for it!

Frankly, we never imagined we would record songs whose original recordings already signify to us the best imagineable versions. It wasn't until we decided to simply record them in tribute and with a historical context that we could justify it. It probably helped that SO MANY folks have asked us... no, TOLD us that we should do a CD. To that we say, THANK YOU! So, now that we've figured out how we're going to do it, here's what we came up with:

This CD will reflect a historical context; roughly, songs that were well known, paired with others that are not so well-known, by artists that were well-known, but alongside artists that were not so well-known.

There are many songs that the record companies didn't push that still represent the artists at their best. EXAMPLES: Great recordings of Buddy Holly in his rockabilly phase abound, because the man never stopped working! His troubles with record labels also held back many a tune by the most prolific artist of the late 1950s.

By the same token there are SO MANY artists out there that just didn't get the luck of the draw, weren't in the right place at the right time, but none the less influenced the scene. EXAMPLES: Carl Perkins himself nearly dropped out of sight after a terrible car accident in 1956. Don Woody was dropped by Decca when their release of his "Bird Dog" was crushed by the Everly Brothers purely co-incidental release of a different song with the same name.

As for release date, availability, and all that stuff: We're gonna go one step at a time and try to get eveything "in the can" by early December.

MEANWHILE, don't be a stranger! Drop in for bulletins as we go through the process. Any suggestions? Requests? We're listening! As always, we love hearing from you!

SEE YOU DOWN THE ROAD...!
