Rockabilly History through the eyes of Stu Frederick
Rockabilly history is the history of the first specific musical style to be called rock'n'roll. Rockabilly history is full of stories and anecdotes. Consider the impact of rockabilly on American music history, with the advent of rock'n'roll. Consider the international impact, which began with Bill Haley's first overseas tours. Today, throughout the international internet community, rockabilly history is obsessively studied, written about, and argued over on every continent. So, is it any wonder that many rockabilly musicians have achieved historical status as legends?
Rockabilly history legends and myths
I'm fond of saying that LEGENDS never let FACTS get in the way of a good story! What I've found is that, behind the legends in rockabilly history, there are real people who found success through hard work, good business practice and plain luck, just as in any career.
The real people in rockabilly history
My tribute to those people in rockabilly history, the great writers, players, and performers who gave teens a music to call their own, is to impart some true story behind the legends each month. Rockabilly history includes many enterprising, talented, and ambitious young folks who came from humble beginnings.
Many have been elevated to god-like status ("Idolizing" actually means "worshipping in a god-like manner"). But I will give you stories of human beings, caught in the ups and downs of life, just like everyone else. - Stu Frederick
