Rockabilly Links

Links that reflect the spirit of the original rockabilly!

Here are links to sites of interest to anyone who appreciates the original rockabilly of the 1950s. Besides rockabilly links, you'll find a few sites which we simply enjoy and wish to share with anyone who might enjoy them also! We hope you enjoy the rockabilly links below:

Rockabilly Links to Favorite Artists

Motorbilly Radio - There is a whole world out there and only a few in the know can tell you about it. One of them is Del Villareal, whose online radio show is simply the most outstanding overview of REAL rockabilly we've ever heard. His picks of modern rockabilly artists are almost indistinguishable with classic cuts from the early days. It's an amazing accomplishment!

The Jime - For many reasons, Our favorite modern rockabilly band. Be sure to check out the "New Set of Rules" CD; just released! That and The Jime's other two CD's are excellent, featuring the blazing, brilliant guitar work of Vince Gordon. You'll swear these boys are from Jackson, but the group actually hails from Denmark!

Don Woody - If you haven't yet heard his music, you are in for a treat and maybe a few surpises! Check out Stu's story on him in Rockabilly History.

Joe Bennett and the Sparkletones - The newest song in our repertoire is a favorite with our dancing crowd. It is so doggone fun! The Sparkletones' story is, likewise, remarkable (see it on our Rockabilly History page).

Rockabilly CD - The selection at this exclusive site features carefully chosen collections of some of the great original artists of the rockabilly days. You'll also find The Jime's latest CD there! FAMILY SAFE AND FUN FOR ALL!.

The Original Comets
The Original Comets,
still Rockin' Around the Clock!

OTHER GREAT SITES: There are websites out there for many of the artists who have passed on and a surprising number of them who are still around and still playing; not just playing, but performing!  One of our personal favorites is Bill Haley's original great string bass player Marshall Lytle, in his seventies, still hoisting his string bass in the air on continuing world tours with The Original Comets.  Notably, Buddy Holly's group, The Crickets are still out there, too, with Buddy's old pal Sonny Curtis taking the lead spot. And, of course, Chuck Berry just keeps on rockin'. He turned 80 on October 18th of last year!

Rockabilly Links for Musicians and Equipment Buffs

The Rockabilly Guitar Page - An awesome, detailed site for players and historians alike, created and maintained by Vince Gordon of The Jime. NOTE: Look for Stu's transcription of the "Rock Around the Clock" guitar solo!

Rockabillybass.com - Want to experience the true international nature of the rockabilly community? Have a look at the photo gallery! This is an amazing site with many links to other information on the unique upright bass playing style that rockabilly requires.

Rockabilly Links for Fans and Historians

Rockabilly Hall of FameŽ - This is the American home of rockabilly on the net, with a fantastic array of pages on every imagineable player from the rockabilly days. This is where you'll find histories of all the greats and some of the ones at the sidelines. Surely you've heard of our all-time favorite, Carl Perkins. But how about Ersell Hickey? Jack Scott? Narvel Felts? They're all here!

Black Cat Rockabilly - Here is the largest rockabilly website in Europe and, folks, it is a real class act. Just watch the photos scroll by on the home page. You know you're gonna click on one! It's a fantastic site, a centerpiece for the huge European rockabilly community.

Delta Boogie, featuring ROCKABILLY DAYS! - Larry Donn is the local rockabilly hero from Bono, AR. We have a page on Delta Boogie now, too, and we're very happy to be a part of that scene in a small way. The site is webmastered by Larry "Hairy Larry" Heyl who is running all kinds of great music events down there. It's a terrific site with a lot going on so check it out!

Art(?) by C.A. Ludvig
"Cat" by C.A. Ludvig

The History of Rock and Roll - Here is another huge history site which branches out into other areas of rock'n'roll. There are some really cool sound clips of early rock instrumentals.

Clean jokes from the life of C.A. Ludvig,
author of "So you think your dad is an alien?"

Part Einstein, part Groucho Marx, Ludvig twists logic like artist M. Escher twists gravity. I wouldn't recommend inviting him to dinner, but be sure to read his thoughts on infinite space, parents, sleep, and other categories! NEWS FLASH: Somehow, C.A. Ludvig has obligated certain parties to put out an e-book of his work! The book was released recently and is on sale at the Clean Jokes site. Don't say I didn't warn you...!
