HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!

BOOKING NEWS - We've been booked for our THIRD CONSECUTIVE YEAR appearance by the folks at Chaddsford Winery for their popular 'Summer Nights Under the Stars' concert series. Meanwhile, in the York area, we have also been booked for the 'Sounds of Summer' concert series in the Springettsbury Township band shell.

December 2007

BOOKINGS FOR 2008 - We're honored to have been asked back to the Philadelphia Swing Dance Society, with a confirmed date on January 12th and a tentative date pencilled in for May 31st.

ROCKABILLY SOCK HOP - With our attentions focusing outward and SwingKat looking in, we'll be restructuring a bit. The January Sock Hop didn't make much sense coming hard on the heals of the New Year. In fact, the Ballroom on High will probably go dark for that period. Meanwhile, the February sock hop is slated for filming of the local cable TV show, "What's Happening!" with host Dean Liott. We hope to make it a great "theme dance" night and really kick off the year for SwingKat.

NEW VENUES - We have dates confirmed for a gala on March and date in August with the Sovereign (Bank) Majestic Theater in Pottsville, a prequel to the nationally-known Pottsville Cruise car show and carnival. We are in talks with the booking agent at Chaplin's in Spring City, which is becoming quite the venue to watch. A newly refurbished theater, the Strand in Hamburg, is also looking at dates with us for some family entertainment.

As they say, we have a lot of "irons in the fire." Got an idea for a venue? Drop us a line, we'd love to hear about it!

November 2007

ITEM 1 - We have a brand new PRESS KIT! For convenience, we have posted it online. Please CLICK HERE to check it out and let us know what you think. It features some of the beautiful photos that Lisa Schaffer took for us at Milkboy Coffeehouse earlier in the year.

We also have printed versions to send out with our video DVD and studio demo CD. The DVD features the videos from the Colonial Theater last summer, including footage of our children's show, SILLY ROCKABILLY. BUT, of course, you can see those videos right here on our site. Just visit our HOME page or go to our BOOKING page, where you can also learn more about our tribute shows (if you don't already know, that is!).

October 2007

ITEM 1 - The video is up! Hope you enjoy it; your comments are always welcome.

ITEM 2 - We got to play at Philadelphia Swing Dance Society on September 22nd. It was a BLAST! Nearly 300 came to dance, lots of familiar faces. THANK YOU

ITEM 3 - Big benefit gala dinner dance in November (11th) for the Melanoma International Foundation. Please check it out and come if you can. It is an important cause: Melanoma is, today, the leading cancer killer of young women and the fastest rising in incidence of ALL cancers.

ITEM 4 - We've just been booked to open for RONNIE SPECTOR at the Sellersville Theater on Sunday November 25th! The theater booking agent contacted us, feeling it would be a good match with the Queen of early sixties pop. We think he's right! We'll give them the music that preceded the "Wall of Sound"!

August 2007

Some catching up to do after a very productive Summer. The three top items...

ITEM 1 - Drum roll, please...
ANNOUNCING OUR FIRST ROCKABILLY SOCK HOP

at the "Ballroom on High" in Pottstown, PA - So many folks who saw our show, ROCKABILLY DAYS, at the Colonial commented that we should do our big shows in a place where they have room to dance. Well, what better place to do that than the hometown of the Sunnybrook Ballroom, the biggest East Coast dance venue of the big band era? This is a "Swing Kat Entertainment Presents" premiere event on January 27, 2007!

ITEM 2 - Another drum roll, if you please...
WE ARE NOW GRANT-FUNDED MUSIC EDUCATORS!

In keeping with our mission to give young people the opportunity to appreciate rockabilly music, The Rivers have been approved by the Music Fair Trust grant program to take live performances into secondary schools throughout Chester County. That's about 30 schools who may now book The Rivers to perform for their students at no cost to the school! Our concert may serve as an element in any study of Post Korean War American History, American Music History, dance study, contemporary style... Or certainly provide a completely unique diversion from the norm!

Steve McQueen's first movie!

ITEM 3 - BLOBFEST 2007 50TH ANNIVERSARY
Yes, Blob fans, it has been 50 years since the filming of our favorite movie! We'll be joining you once again on Bridge Street as hosts of the parade and costume contest of the most wacky-fun festival on the planet!
