It's American music that you rarely hear on the radio anymore; but you can hear rockabilly played live by this band from southeastern PA! They play the music of rockabilly and rockabilly-influenced artists from the days when rock'n'roll became a world-wide phenomenon (the years 1952 - 1960). Rockabilly's chart success even started right here in PA with the early hits of Bill Haley.
Here's the way it happened:
In the early 1950s, young country musicians began combining blues, jazz, and gospel with their style. The result was rockabilly, which not only changed the music scene around the world, but signaled social change on the horizon. The Rivers are faithful preservationists of this essential American music that STILL gets more recognition overseas than here at home. They?ve taken on a mission of delivering that message wherever possible, to all generations.
It has made The Rivers one of the top 1950s tribute bands of the greater Philadelphia region, and their webpages have risen to the top of the rockabilly culture on internet search engines around the world.
They play the music of Bill Haley and his Comets, Carl Perkins, Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, The Everly Brothers, Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochran, and many more, including some of the lesser known "gems" of the era and many of its forebears.
There is no more joyous music in the American repertoire than the music that started it all; music that most certainly changed the world. The Rivers bring it to their audiences with showmanship and energy, performing concerts that are a singalong celebration for any generation, or all generations, together.

THE RIVERS ARE A BAND WITH A MISSION
1. To play in tribute to the original artists of the rockabilly era (1952 - 1960).
2. To restore the music to the folks who were there when it was new.
3. To introduce it to young people so that they may have the opportunity to appreciate it.
There's not another style of music out there that uniquely appeals to multiple generations the way that The Rivers' repertoire does. It gives them great pleasure to represent music that appeals to so many and yet is rarely heard on the radio anymore right here in the country where it was born! They also take great pleasure in assuring the following:
The Rivers' shows are always "family-safe" and fun for all!
Who's who
STU "GRAND DADDY" FREDERICK, Guitar, Vocal: A musician and stage performer for nearly four decades, he has been a member of the Philadelphia area singer-songwriter community since his high school days, appearing in regional venues and festivals throughout the area. In the mid-seventies, Stu was a figure in the growing rock music community in Seattle, Washington, after serving four years in the US Coast Guard. Stu is PA certified music teacher and graduate of the West Chester University School of Music. He teaches guitar privately at The Music Centre, a recording studio and school of professional musicians in Exton, PA.
JB "MEMPHIS" SMITH, Percussion, Vocal, Acoustic Guitar: The cat from Marple, JB has been a music professional for nearly two decades. JB dreamed of playing rockabilly all his life. He got out his frustrations playing hard rock until that opportunity finally walked in the door with The Rivers. JB is heard frequently on vocal, particularly on the songs of Elvis Presley and those high harmonies of the Everly Brothers. He is an accomplished musician on both the guitar and piano as well. But audiences everywhere seem most impressed by his skill on the Fisher-Price xylophone!
BRADLEY "THE MUSHRAT" KEOUGH, Doghouse Bass, Vocal: A master of the rockabilly "slap bass" style, Bradley is a talented songwriter and performer who has played the circuit for many years with his high energy folk band, "PSYCH-A-BILLY." A long-time resident of crime-free Souderton, PA, Bradley is an accomplished cartoonist and sole owner of the world's only online cartooning correspondence course, "CARTOONERAMA!"
