The soldiers will train in Texas for several months, and afterwards will deploy to the Middle East.

Mayor Barker says Hattiesburg is a military community, and it is important that the city shows a lot of support.

“Because Hattiesburg is a military community, lots of these folks become our friends and family,” Barker said. “So let’s make sure that we show them that we support them in the Hattiesburg way.”

The event will begin at 9 a.m. at the intersection of highway 49 and Hardy Street.
